History of ILI

In the fall of 1989 Cynthia Moses attended a NILD workshop at an Association of Christian Schools International convention in Anaheim, California. That one-hour presentation was to change the direction of her life.

Weary of hearing the latest method of diagnosing learning problems, the most up-to-date names to attach to these problems, and current ideas about the ways to manage students with these problems, Cynthia was looking for a way to free students from these problems! NILD offered the solution. Finally, there was an answer.

In the summer of 1990 Cynthia began NILD Educational Therapist Training. She worked with her first NILD Educational Therapy students after she finished her day as a classroom teacher. In a short while she

became an independent provider of NILD Educational Therapy serving students from private, public, and home schools in what was known as The Discovery Center.

Time passed. The Discovery Center became The Discovery House and two more therapists were added to the staff. For eight years Cynthia was joined by two additional therapists in the adventure of providing deficit stimulation for students from preschoolers to adults.

In the summer of 2003 Integrated Learning Institute, a nonprofit organization, was formed to take over and expand the work of The Discovery House. Integrated Learning Institute (ILI) was founded with the help of a gifted Board of Directors.

Integrated Learning Institute is celebrating its sixth year of growth as a nonprofit organization. With the addition of the GET (Group Educational Therapy) model and Rx for Discovery Reading to our trademark one-on-one intervention ILI has much to celebrate!

Still, there is much work to be done. Guiding hesitant, discouraged, inefficient learners to become eager, confident, independent learners keeps this organization busy and motivated day after day!
